I-235 Integration - Traffic on I-235 in Des Moines, Iowa is monitored by loop detector sensors and closed circuit TV (CCTV). CARS-DATA and CARS-CCTV integrate data from those sources into CARS. Dynamic message signs (DMS) are used to alert traffic to upcoming events, and CARS-Web allows the public to access traffic related information via the internet. CARS- Condition Acquisition and Reporting System CARS is a road reporting system that supports a multi-state database of traffic events, including construction, accidents, road conditions and delays. CARS databases drive web, 511, DMS, HAR and LPFM systems without further manual input. CARS-511
- Condition Acquisition and Reporting System for 511 Traveler Information
Services Enterprise - The ENTERPRISE Program is a pooled-fund study comprised of member agencies (State Departments of Transportation) from North America and Europe. The primary mission of the ENTERPRISE Program is to develop and carry out a joint research program to develop, evaluate, and deploy Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies. Amber Alerts - The Amber Plan is a voluntary, cooperative program between the law enforcement community and the broadcast media to send an emergency alert to the public when a child has been abducted and is believed to be in danger. Castle Rock is deploying a module to be known as CARS-Amber. CARS multi-state travel information databases will allow any authorized law enforcement personnel to enter an Amber Alert from any location within the state, thus automating the currently lengthy data entry process. LPFM - Castle Rock has worked to implement Low Power FM (LPFM) stations in various states to disseminate travel information concerning construction, accidents, delays, and other roadway, weather and tourism information to local travelers. Low Power FM stations usually have a broadcast range of approximately 10 miles and are currently operational in Vermont and Iowa. | ||
