Castle Rock applied its truck identification expertise to electronic toll collection in 1986 with the development of Virginia’s Smart Tag technology. Our solution became Easy Pass™, used all over the eastern United States. Castle Rock operates all the state and private electronic tolls in Virginia, collecting millions of dollars of revenues every week. Currently we are applying our expertise to electronic toll collection throughout the state of New Hampshire, integrating tolls with traffic, travel and tourism systems.

Smart Tag - Electronic Toll Collection Along Virginia Toll Facilities
Castle Rock performs operations of the Virginia Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) – Smart Tag. Castle Rock operates the service centers that administer the tolls for five toll facilities throughout Virginia. To date, over 330,000 active transponders are in vehicles along the systems, and the service center processes over 340,000 electronic toll transactions per day.

NH Turnpike - Replacement of Toll Collection Equipment
A new computerized toll collection system (TCS), inclusive of hardware and software along with an E-ZPass Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system will be implemented in the state of New Hampshire.
